BEHIND THE BOSS

Tania Lacayo

My name is Tania Lacayo. Daughter of Dominga & Justo who immigrated to the United States from Honduras in the early 1970's. I am the sister of Justin Lacayo. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL but reside in Tallahassee, FL. I am the founder and CEO of Krafty Kreations by Tania LLC. My passion with DIY projects started in 2011. I started off making custom earrings and phone cases. I would always look at something while trying to figure out how to make it. There was never a project my friends said I couldn’t do so I kept challenging myself to learn how to make things. During this time I was working and going to college. In 2012, My mom who supported me for years got laid off and life started hitting me hard. Fast forward to a few years later, I lost focus with school, dropped out and dedicated all my time to working. I worked at the same job for almost 6 years and found myself trying to make ends meet working 20 hours a week and getting paid minimum wage. I was complacent and believed if I stayed longer I would grow in the company but I didn't. I knew my business was growing but I didn't believe in it. In February 2017, I took a leap of faith. I sat in my car and decided that I wasn't going back to work. My craft demanded more of me. It was hard convincing my parents for support and to believe in me because they felt like graduating college was the only thing that would bring stability and success. I mean they immigrated so I could graduate BUT God wrote my story differently and NOW here I am today a proud business owner. I now have the support of my parents, I've helped my brother through college, I'm teaching other crafters how to be successful and I'm doing what I love. I allowed my passion to become my purpose, and now it became my profession
